Musterung (Dazzle), digital print on poster paper, fringe garland 356 × 252 cm

The works are based on torn fragments of German military recruitment posters displayed in public spaces across Germany. Enlarged scans reveal the CMYK dots of the printed images, turning elements of the posters into patterns in their own right. The works draw on the linguistic relation between the German words “Muster” (pattern) and “Musterung” (military medical examination), connecting the visual construction of the posters with the administrative process of military examination.
